II Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" (NIV)
I was thinking about something a sweet friend said about "refining fire" (thanks Jill!) and loved how the colors went towards that yellow/white as if in a great heat. I chose red from the very beginning for Christ's blood as it is through His work on the cross that we are made new. It was really neat to step back and see both of these symbols work together.
The old man is fading away and in it's place is the figure of Christ making us a new creation, the baby. We are born again into life. I liked how the image of a baby made me immediately think of helpless and fragile and how much we need our God to sustain us.
Thank you all for your precious prayers. I literally struggled with this one and finally scrubbed the idea I initially had and just asked God to show me what HE wanted to say. I truly feel He did that for me. Always, when I get out of the way (all my inhibitions and thinking about skill and audience) He is faithful. Ultimately, it was a painting that reminded me that I paint for Him and Him alone. My dear love. My all.
